Dave loves to scour old tractor yards. He talks to the owners and offers to take and reuse materials that otherwise would be left behind. Fountains, such as the three-disc fountain with its oak barrel base has been assembled using such old farm and tractor equipment.

Dave, through his water creations, helps the environment by salvaging metal that would take centuries to deteriorate. The Old West and Rocky Mountains harbor many tractor yards in which to find various sizes and shapes of plow discs. The Snake River Valley provides the inspiration and the rocks used in his fountains.
